Non-DOT Employer Physicals

More and more, non-DOT employer medical exams are becoming the norm in many industries. Once restricted to enterprises with a high number of work-site-related incidents, many employers are now seeing the benefits of requesting these physicals.

What’s the Purpose?

The physicals ensure that you are in generally good health and able to perform the duties that are required of you at your job. Your company is protecting itself against liability claims by requiring you have a physical. However, you’re also being protected as the results of the physical will confirm that you’re in good physical shape and mentally capable of performing the job.

Who Needs Physicals?

The majority of commercial drivers require a physical exam, at least every two years. Again, physicals are necessary so employers can make sure their employees are healthy and able to safely perform the duties necessary for your business.

What to Expect

Before you visit Bence Chiropractic Wellness Center for a work-related physical, please bring the following to your visit so Dr. Sibyl can better understand your medical history.

• Any paperwork provided by your employer, including an Employer Authorization Form
• Valid driver’s license, state/federal/local issued ID or employer-issued badge
• List of current medications
• List of any allergies
• List of past surgeries and medical conditions

What physicals cover?

• Your medical history
• An exam (includes a vision test, hearing test, blood pressure/pulse and urinalysis)
• A physical exam that consists of a check of the following: general appearance, eyes, ears, mouth and throat, lungs and chest, abdomen and organs, vascular system, urinary system, extremities and limbs, spine and skeletal, neurological, height and weight

Please allow about 45 minutes for the physical.

What Happens Next?

Upon completing the physical examination, Dr. Sibyl will discuss the results with you and provide any authorized information to your employer.

How much does a physical cost?

The cost is $100. Ask your employer if they will cover the cost.
